Indented Cylinder Separator (Length Separator) is a modular cleaning and seed conditioning machine designed for applications where air screens, gravity separators or vibratory tables are insufficient for separating bulk seeds based on width and weight. It separates seeds with millimeter-level precision based solely on length differences, such as broken, short, round or long grains.
Working Principle and Equipment Features: The system operates with a rotating cylindrical drum whose inner surface is equipped with specially designed oval-shaped pockets:
Separation Mechanism: Short/round grains and broken wheat entering the cylinder settle into the pockets under the effect of centrifugal force generated by the rotating drum and are carried upward. When the grains reach a certain lifting angle, gravity causes them to fall out of the pockets into the collection auger located at the center of the cylinder, where they are removed from the main product flow. Standard grains that are too long to fit into the pockets remain at the bottom of the cylinder and move toward the discharge outlet.
Modular Architecture and Drive System: The trieur system is designed with a modular structure, allowing the number of units to be increased or reduced according to the capacity requirements of the plant. High-strength, inverter-controlled Yılmaz brand gearboxes are used as the drive components. This allows the rotational speed of each cylinder motor and the drum inclination to be independently and precisely optimized according to the characteristics of the product being processed.
Products and Applications: The machine is successfully used in seed cleaning plants and flour and semolina mills, particularly for separating broken grains and foreign long seeds from wheat. It is also suitable for barley, rice, sugar beet and sunflower seed processing lines.
